I honestly did not even know something like this existed before, and I couldn’t be happier that I found it. I travel frequently, so I was hoping I could use this to play Netflix or iTunes movies on my hotel room wall, and it far exceeded my expectations. | I have owned this fantastic projector since last 21 days & have watched several 3D movies. The projector is phenomenal there is no ghosting or crosstalk of any kind. My screen size is 120 inches. Once you watch a movie in 3D you will not like to watch the same movie in 2D version. This is my 6th projector the last one was Panasonic 3000 which was also very good. I have been using the 2nd gen glasses which are very very good. There is a slight drop in brightness but on the whole its tooo good. I’ve watched Resident Evil Afterlife which had amazing effects & depth,Ice age,Saw,Thor,Captain America,Final Destination(Excellent 3D effects)Toy Story 3, Smurfs,My bloody valentine, Mars Need Moms, & the latest one Ultimate Wave Tahiti (a must own 3D bluray for all 3D display owners). After Purchasing and getting home eager to set up i took down my old projector (SharpVision xv-z9000u was 11k new in 2001) which i have been very pleased, hooked up the new casio and BAM the whole room was lit up with very rich and vibrant color, and then after some calibration and moving the fan down to eco mode two i popped on some 1080p videos on my playstation, they were amazing, moved to some online gaming and same experience, so far a very awesome 10 hours! Currently is projected on the wall, cannot wait to see full potential on a the Projector Screen (120″ is current size plan to do with the screen as well) Will follow in next month, |

I ran some 3D movies through it and was BLOWN AWAY!
Watched Ultimate Wave Tahiti, Imax Hubble 3D, and Avatar. Far better than recent IMAX experiences to me. Of course it’s more comfortable watching on MY couch than in some theater seat. If all you’ve seen are 3D TV units, you are missing out. Get one of these, set it up for 100+ inch screen, and sit about 6-8 feet away and be amazed. Bright and great for 1080p 2D images too. Have watched X-Men First Class and a few others. Bought it on a lark, thinking I’d try it and return it, but the better half loves it and won’t let me return it. Incredible unit for the price IMO. Quiet enough in “eco” mode to not be noticed in my living room even with the sound off. Epson customer support and warranty are fantastic. If I had a negative, it would just be it doesn’t have ethernet or WiFi hookup. Be nice to be able to control it with “Roomie Remote” from iPhone/iPad directly like I do with my Panasonic DMP-BDT210 Blu-Ray player. Will be glad when all devices converge to “app” control instead of clunky remotes littering the house. |

PROS: CONS: Over all: I will recommend this product to my friends because of the Optima brand-DLP, the price (black Friday), and good enough performance for a new toy. Now I can do movie night at home with my family, not to mention my son is so exited to use it for his game cube. I will do a follow up review after 6 months if I still feel the same. |

I have never owned a projector so this is not a comparison against other projectors. I project the picture onto a painted wall in a hotel room and the size I project is about 52 inches. Color and clarity is excellent. Fan noise is not noticeable while watching a movie. I use my laptop computer speakers and I don’t hear the fan. Size of this unit is small and very portable. The first time I switched on this small unit I said “WOW”. I did not think such a small package could give me such a good picture. I am impressed. |

I bought this projector 3 weeks ago from Amazon. Delivery was prompt and on time. The projector came in the usual Optoma box but without a carry case. Of course I knew that, but one would have been nice anyway. I had already printed out the manual (at work of course) from the Optoma website. Set up was easy enough but a little time consuming as the settings where totally off. I believe everyone using this projector primarily for home theater will and should set the bulb to standard. The extra lumen will come in handy however when using the 3D glasses to view 3D content. Once calibrated, picture quality was very impressive for a 720p projector. Blacks were black enough, color and shadow, rich and detailed. The projector does a good job (imo) of scaling 1080p content. I have two Blu-ray players and the projector showed Blu-ray content a lot better with my Philips player so like everything else the source is important. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase. Couldn’t convince the wife at this stage to let me spend the extra money on a 1080p projector, so I was already looking at the HD65. I was encouraged by what was being said by the very early adapters that had pulled the trigger on the dedicated AV forums (God bless them). Early veiwings included Iron Man and Transformers, and Walle and UP for animation, all in Blu-ray on a 72″ 16:9 screen and I’m truly impressed. The harshest critic is too, the wife. Picture is as good, if not better, than my Sanyo 42″ 1080p plasma. I’m English; my wife is American so were now looking forward to the World Cup being shown in 3D. By the time the tournament begins hopefully the price of active shutter glasses will have fallen enough so were not passing one pair around the room to everybody. If you have bought this projector from Amazon just post a review good, bad or indifferent. I was compelled to do so because for a long time the only one posted nearly caused me to pass on the HD66. $700 is a lot of money (to me at least), so I utilize reviews all the time without giving back. This was my first one ever, hope it helps. |
