Since there are many great reviews, I will talk about size. We have both the 47 inch and 55 inch. The 47 was delivered first and used in our living room while waiting on the 55 inch. When the 55 arrived we were all amazed at how much bigger it looked. Also some movies still have black bars on the top and bottom, which makes the tv screen smaller. I would recommend the 47 for a bedroom and the 55 for a living room. We also have a Samsung and the picture on the LG is much better. You will love this TV! |

I easily got the wireless internet connection established. (later I went to a wired connection because it is 5 times faster than my G router) The Smart Hub browser is clunky (perhaps it’s still too new for me) to use and the browser does not support Java. Dumb. Very dumb. To have a TV this great and not have Java in its browser screams, STUPID. The main Smart Hub screen is crowded with pushed content that cannot be deleted. Users need to have more control here. One thing you will learn to hate with the Smart Hub browser is the frequently displayed message: Plug In Not Supported. Another message users will tire of is: The Browser Will Stop Loading All Windows For Stable Browsing; despite only one window being open. Come on, Samsung, get with it! Make the browser useable. The remote (Samsung QWERTY Remote BN59-01134B RMC-QTD1) is two sided. One side is for the TV, the other, for the internet. It has a full QWERTY keyboard and a touch pad that is half the size of the fingernail on your pinkie. And, it works. It takes practice, but it works. The TV side of the remote is infrared and the internet side is RF. The RF side of the remote has to be paired with the TV. Hint: The remote must be within a few inches of the TV or it will not pair. My wife discovered this ahead of time in an obscure online posting during her research of the D7000. This critical bit of info is not in the manual. Lastly, aiming the infrared side of the remote must be directly at the sensor on the lower right side of the display or you’ll not have a remote control function. After owning it for awhile, I remain in awe of the picture quality of the D7000. Despite a quirk here and there, it’s a keeper. |

Ok there has been a lot of confusion about this 65″ LG passive 3d because I believe it is a lw6500 in name only and does not have the same features of the smaller versions of this model. It is only 120 Hz instead of 240 Hz and has a very glossy screen instead of the matte finish like the smaller lw5600 and lw6500. I ordered this tv knowing about the120Hz, but assumed it had a matte finish like the other lg passives- I avoided the 65″ Vizio because of the glossy screen. I believe I can live with the glossy screen- I may need to do something about my skylights… anyway besides the glossy screen and the fact that it is 120 Hz I am happy with the picture quality of this tv- it is not perfect- I can see some clouding, but not a deal breaker for me. The 3d looks great from comcast, panasonic 3d blu ray player and games on the PS3 (I played wipeout and Stardust HD so far). I don’t think I would be happy with active glasses for me and my family. The 3d looks awesome to me- looks very clear and I can’t tell it is not technically full HD… the average person will prefer passive over active- I already collected 9 pairs of passive glasses- including two smaller sizes for my kids….
Overall not bad if you want a large 65″ passive TV- I would recommend buying directly from Amazon because of their 30 day return policy and price match… I still have yet to see a major review of this TV (not sure the demand for such a large TV), but the lw5600s received good reviews- I believe the future for 3d will be with passive- According to LG 4 out of 5 people prefer passive (cinema 3d) over active- I understand why… |

I haven’t even begun to delve into all the functions and capability that it has, but I am BLOWN AWAY by the picture quality. I have tested several 3D Blu Ray discs in it, and so far the most impressive has been “The Polar Express.” The image is STUNNING when using either cable, Blu Ray, or regular DVD. By far the best television as far as image quality goes that I have ever owned.
The Passive 3D glasses are so lightweight, you barely realize you are wearing them. The set comes with 4, and they are FAR more affordable than the other types I have seen. The remote is extremely easy to use, as is the weird-but-fun “Magic Motion” control. Sleek, attractive, absolutely stunning. I highly recommend this unit. |

I purchased this TV two weeks ago and the picture is really awesome. As already mentioned by some other reviewers the edge backlight technology has some drawbacks, which means if you are looking at the full black screen, there are some light blury spots at the edges. However, when watching TV or a movie you will not find these disturbing, because you will not be able to see unless the full screen is black. You can always dim the light intensity and they will nearly disappear. But the powerful light is just a strength of this TV. Even watching with direct sunlight shining on the screen is possible. And the black is the darkest black I’ve ever seen on a TV with LED or LCD.
I did buy the 3D glasses. Got them from Fry’s for $150, the package of 2 including the 3D movies Shrek and Megamind. I guess they also recognized that the full price close to $500 is way overdone. They also reduced the prices for single glasses. And this is really nice. With the bluetooth technology I did not even once experience any outage, it’s just working smoothly. And the 3D effects are stunning. Yes, the TV can also calculate 3D, it works, but is not as good as real 3D directly from disc. The TV calculates the different layers, but objects would appear to be somewhat flat. Nevertheless, with the right movie this is great fun. 46″ is big enough if you can sit about 8ft away from the screen. Otherwise you should go for the bigger size. I can only recommend this TV. There might be even better ones but only for much more money. But then, why not buy a new one after some years, using the saved money, and getting always the best technology? I am using an Oppo BDP-93 for playing 3D Bluray. It matches perfectly. |

TV so far is great. The keyboard side of the remote requires syncing with the TV. The bluetooth transmitter of the TV is under the Samsung logo, so if you have trouble put the remote in close proximity and ensure there aren’t other bluetooth devices that are in pairing mode. Press the Tab and Sym keys, but be sure to hold them down through the entire sync, until an on screen message on the TV’s lower left corner displays and the remote indicates success. I let go too quickly and the sync failed. The @ + Backspace resets the remote (not in the manual).
I ordered mine through Amazon and it arrived in perfect condition. 3D glasses are a promotion rebate and you can fill in a form online, but you have to wait to get them. I decided to order the 2011 Panasonic 310 Blueray with this, but I am waiting for the first units to be shipped. My previous experiences is that the two devices work well together, but a universal remote such as the Harmony One is the way to go. |

| I was looking for a 32 inch TV to fit in a cabinet I had made for the living room. Most TVs in this size are pretty basic and was looking for something a little more high tech. This model of Sony fit the bill perfectly. The styling of the TV is really nice with a glossy black bezel all around and without the funny grey band on the bottom of the lesser 32s Sony sells. The screen is more of a matte look and is great in eliminating glare from nearby windows. I purchased the set primarily for the Internet streaming and so far this works great. I was disappointed that I had to buy the wifi adapter for wireless streaming but it works really well. If your lucky to have your internet close to the TV you can plug the ethernet cord directly to the TV. I have kind of a lousy internet provider but it didn’t seem to effect the streaming to the TV. The TV found my home network quickly and connected easily. There was a software update and it did this quickly also. There are a number of internet sites that come up on the menu including Netfix, Hulu, You Tube ,Crackle, Amazon instant movies, Qriosity (Sony library) etc. Qriosity has hundreds of movies available including 3D movies. They are not free however and charge anywhere from $3-$6 depending on if you want Standard Def, High Def or 3D. You can watch the previews for free, however, which I did for several hours. The need for a blue ray player is questionable as there is so much content available through these internet sites. The remote has no keyboard so a lot of scrolling around for is required for doing searches on You Tube, kind of a pain. I have not tried the 3D feature yet so cannot comment on this. The picture is beautiful out of the box and required very little adjustment by me to make it perfect. The speakers, like most LED TVs are really bad and a sound bar or external speakers are a must. The TV satisfied most of the requirements I had and at a price that was quite reasonable. | |

This TV is simply amazing not only from a design standpoint but also feature-wise. Indeed, it’s so thin and light that I was able to hand carry the box by myself. I was able to install it almost alone (my wife helped me a bit just to avoid damaging it). The look is a killer (bezel, depth and color). I do care about the design in general and especially for something that will take so much space in my living room. The unboxing and installation is pretty straight forward and easy. Just need to be patience and I advise to connect it to your LAN or WLAN from the get-go. TV will download few important updates before launching the Smart HUB (where you can see and download your apps). Sleek and nice UI but not a lot of apps yet. Samsung need to work on that if they want their Smart Hub to be used therefore relevant.I wish I can connect my TV with my Bluetooth keyboard for a better browsing experience as it nice to surf the web on a 55 inch full HD screen. Once the install is over you just need to plug in your stuff (Directv,Xbox, PS3 in my case) on the available 4 HDMI ports. Mine came with the brand new 3d starter kit and 5 movies (4 Shreck and one Megamind -Blu ray format) for free. Two out of 5 should be redeemed through mailing but you can do it online. Also there is a qwerty remote supposedly but that also need to be redeemed. Allow 7-10 days to receive it. The TV spec are amazing (aside the fact that I’m still not used to the image of LED vs plasma that I had previously). But when you fire-up a BR or any TV show in 1080 i or p, then wow the picture quality is just crisp, beautiful and sharp. The sound is not the greatest feature of the screen but for such a thin device, I’m cool with that (I have an amazing soundbar already anyway). I’ve watched 3D content (there is actually more and more content available) and it’s nice but the glasses from the kit are not (ugly and cumbersome). Get yourself the 3D BR on the International space station to really enjoy your 3D feature or there are 3D channels on Directv that are good enough for a start. Overall I’m really satisfied with this TV and it worths the price. Samsung did a great job and I don’t think there is any TV out there who can have the quality (Panasonic maybe) and mainly the design (definitely not Panasonic nor Sony or LG). One note to conclude : I wanted to post this review on the Samsung website as I’m thrilled with this awesome product. They did not like all the comments you see here. Censorship? |

| First of all let me just start by saying that i returned the recently purchased samsung 55c9000 for this unit and boy did i make a great choice, the fact that the bezel is so thin makes your viewing expierence much much better this also holds up when your viewing 3D content its less of a distraction with the 2010 models the thick bezels would distract you from the 3D material, another fine point that i have to add is the contrast ratio on this unit is 25,000,000/1 and it shows even regular programming looks awesome i recieved it yesterday so i am still getting used to all the options like Smart TV,new search button,qwerty remote and internet browser functions etc, but i tested out some things like watching avatar on blu-ray with the picture setting on Dynamic and Normal and played some video games on the ps3 like Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 and they all looked wonderful, the price is a little steep but thats because the tv just came out but if you could afford it i just have 3 words for you “Pick It Up” you wont regret your choice how could you. | |

The Sony Bravia 40EX720 is a great 3d HDTV for its price range.
I was originally on the market for a HDTV in which to use as a computer monitor/gaming screen and after Sony revealed its 2011 lineup at CES 2011, I knew I had to get one. The first thing I can tell you is that this TV is solid. I felt quite satisfied with the build quality. Unlike the previous EX series HDTVs, the bevel on the bottom which looks grey in some pictures is actually a dark black. This was actually a downer for me as I kind of liked the grey strip on the bottom as seen in some EX7xx pictures. I love the menu system as well. The 2010 line of Bravia HDTVs made use of the Playstation 3 and PSP menu system to the point where they were practically identical. The EX720, and by my guess all the 2011 models, opted out of the PS3/PSP menu design in favor of a more streamlined version. It grows on you and generally I find it much more visually appealing and easy to navigate. The remote has some handy buttons that work better than one would expect. The 3D button on the remote turns the tv into stereoscopic 3D mode, one more press and it turns it off. You can watch anything in 3D as the Bravia will emulate the 3D effect for non-3D content. Other remote buttons include a quick netflix toggle, internet video, Qriocity as well as a very handy HOME button. The internet video works like a charm as well. I managed to watch youtube videos straight from the TV as well as browse online music libraries. Plugging in a USB drive with some short films on it worked as well. The TV will recognize the USB device and then you can go ahead and access what you wish to watch or listen to from it. No dead pixels. Lighting is even across the entire screen. Great black levels. Semi-Glossy screen (the mix between a glossy and matte). The EX720 may not be the best HDTV Sony has to offer for 2011, but for its price, features and capability… I would say its easily up there. Sony may just win the HDTV war for this year with the 2011 line up. You cannot go wrong with this one. Note: The North American EX720 was assembled in Mexico and the current LCD panels are the same Samsung uses. This may or may not be a problem for some TV buyers. |

So you know where I’m coming from, I’m replacing a 50″ Samsung plasma. I have a number of various sized flat panels around the house and a home theater in the basement. I just had my 720p Mitsy projector replaced with a Sony (STR-DA3600ES) and Avatar on Blu-Ray blew me away (108″ screen). I consider myself an enthusiast, but in no way an expert. Anyway, onward…
Out of the box experience – Fantastic. The box is gorgeous, the instructions on the top tell you how to easily (for such a big TV) undo the clips and sleeve-off the box. Set up – Couldn’t be simpler. Quick start guide is accurate. Instructions manual is in English only, not 7 languages, and is plainly written, not some computer converted Chinese. I couldn’t get the Vizio remote to control the DirecTV box though. Will have to look for a code I suppose. Not a biggie. Will get it. (Edit: Thanks to AVS Forum, someone pointed out I must have my receiver set to RF mode in Remote Control set up. I changed it to IR, and voilà, all set. I had to “Try The Next Code” to get up to Code 4. All set). Luckily, my 2-year old receiver is 3D ready – HR21-700. DirecTV said just “plug it in, the receiver will walk you through the set up once it recognizes the 3D TV”. Not quite right, for me anyway, but a restart of the receiver and I was up and running. 2D-HD – I started with Kill Bill 2 on TNTHD and it looked great. Some HD looks better than others, not surprisingly. For example, 30 Rock must use some type of softening lens. AppleTV (720p) – YouTube looks a little better than I thought it would. From Apple’s movie catalog, previews of 300 and The Bucket List looked sharp. Netflix streaming looked as good as it did on my 50″ Sammy, and that’s a good thing. Photos from Mobile Me via my iPhone looked great. 3D on DirecTV – Started with n3D, which I now realize is very analogous to Mark Cuban’s HDNET back in the early days of HD. It’s where you should go for the fun initial impression. A lot of scenic/nature content. It impresses right away. Family take – 11-year old boy loves it. Despicable Me in 3D is wow-ing him. 15-year old daughter too. I prefer the premium glasses, but the kids like the basic ones. Daughter’s friend was tickled the basic (flat) glasses fit over her eye glasses. Wife’s first reaction was good, then made a comment about it making her cross-eyed, then backed up and liked it. She is also most impressed with Despicable Me and says it feels less gimmicky than past 3D experiences (where something just jumps out at you now and then). 3D sports – I downloaded the National Championship game (Auburn vs Oregon) via DirecTV and although I like it better than the active shutter, I’m not sure I wouldn’t prefer a plain crisp HD for sports. I watch a ton of sports, and my initial reaction to sports in 3D with both passive 3D (this set) and active 3D (the other available 3D technology) is mixed at this point in time. Vizio 3D Blu-Ray player – Started with Dinosaurs, IMAX Under The Sea, Alice in Wonderland, and Polar Express. The player is quick and intuitive with the Internet app screen as the main screen. Disney’s Alice in Wonderland is fabulous and I’m most surprised by how pleasing the image depths are. IMAX Under The Sea has the cool IMAX 3D number countdown at the beginning – fun. The sea images give “whoa” reactions from the family. This is THE 3D Blu-Ray to throw in first – Jim Carrey narrated and beautiful. The tech of the whole thing falls away after a few minutes and the experience is immersive from then on. The player is snappy. 3D thoughts, as this set is passive 3D (vs active 3D). |

| I purchased this TV to replace a 3 year old Magnivox LCD that developed a dark spot right after the first year of course. I don’t like the way the 480 hz looks unless I’m playing my PS3, but luckily you can turn that feature off. The picture is outstanding, it was dark but it turns out it was because the ambient light sensor. Turned that off and the picture just seemed to POP and it looks amazing. The audio is great on the TV, I had purchased the VHT510 for the Magnivox and I almost don’t need it with this TV, but of course still use it for the surround sound. The only little quirk I noticed was the widget gallery didn’t have any widgets in it, I called VIZIO tech support and they walked me through a quick process of resetting the TV and it works like a charm now. I do recommend that you have at least a 10 Mb connection if you decide to use the widgets, you’ll have a much smoother experience watching Netflix and Vudu. As far as connecting it to my ancient Linksys router, it was simple and easy. I use WPA security encryption and no problems connecting. I really haven’t utilized the 3D aspect of the TV yet so stay tuned for that review, I apologize I’m sure more people care about that aspect than any other. All in all, I don’t think you’ll find a better 42″ especially one that includes 3D for this price. | |

I think it is too early for me to rate this, but Vizio just delivered this and I am yet to set up my Home Theater system. I played the Vudu clips on this and the picture and sound were simply great…I have not done any tweaking yet…this is “out of the box”
After 5 days of owning this I have seen everything except the 3D ( Glasses awaited, Vizio did not bundle this ). I will come back in 2 weeks to post a review on that. But for now start up, set up, internet connectivity, the cool jag wheel on the side for control, Yahoo widgets ( Netflix in particular ), smart dimming all seemed fabulous. I did not in particular like the QWERTY remote , does not fit well in my hands….True-volume and SRS delivered as promised. 15 W speakers perhaps not enough if you do not intend to use a receiver. I opened up my kitchen windows and switched on all the lights to check on how much was reflecting and disturbing the viewing … I must say very little, and only when there is a relatively darker scene Cannot register your product at Vizio at this time…LOL….this one does not figure in the drop down for “model” on their web site. Waiting for the 3D glasses to watch Monster House which came with my Sony BDP S770 |

| I went with this to replace my old Samsung LCD. The picture quality is absolutely amazing. I tested it with 2 different movies, Avatar and Up. I was blown away. You know that feeling you get whenever you buy something new and it’s better than you even imagined? That’s what I feel about this TV. Even my wife who seems to be affected by the Amish gene (cares nothing about new technology) was awed by the quality. If you’re buying a new TV and trying to decide between the Bravia or Samsung take my advice and get the Sony Bravia. You won’t be disappointed. | |

Just upgraded from Hitachi Plasma 720p 42 inch. When I first got the Hitachi I did not think a picture could ever get better. Was in the market for an upgrade and spent a day looking at all the 50″+ LED TVs. Where the TV is set in the store makes all the difference in the picture quality and they have the mode set to brightest, sharpest, etc…, which you would not have in your home. Spent the evening researching LED TV technology and came to the conclusion that they all will be similar in the similar price range. Toshiba had the deal for 2 pair of 3D glasses and BD 3D player with purchase of TV which knocked out the Sony and the Samsung I was considering. 3D glases are specific for each model and will run you about $150 and 3D BD will run you about $250…so that was a $550 saving right there.
Hook up was a piece of cake to Sat box and then watched PBS Evening news. If the program is not in HD, the the large picture makes the video TOO big and somewhat blurry, so you have to scale the picture back (easy to do with button control on the remote). Started up a recorded HD movie on my DVR, Star Trek First Contact…and wow, the detail, colors the black level were amazing and as good as any of the Sony and samsung similar TVs I saw in the show room. The Toshiba was a new model and relegated to the show room wall with about 30 other TVs and did not show as well. I can now tell you that it is GREAT. Do not expect great sound from any LED TV since the speakers have to be small. But the sound is adequate for watching news and normal shows, but somewhat tinny. Probably can adjust with the menu equalizer, but its a don’t care for normal TV viewing. Put in USB stick with pictures and it recognized it immediately and opened up to view photos…fantastic resoultion and photo reproduction with 8Mp camera…and fast. |

Received this set yesterday. Exceeds all expectations upgrading from a still very nice 2 year old touch of color 52 inch Samsung.
Image is wonderful, deep blacks and smooth refresh rates. Haven’t had the chance to play with the 2d-3d conversion or any proper 3d at all. User interface is brilliant compared to the Samsung set i’ve been using. Very responsive and quick menus. Pictures do not do this tv justice. You really have to see it in your living room to appreciate how beautiful the design aethetics are. Full glass front, no plastic bezel. Solid feeling in every aspect. Easy to put together. Not currently mounted but it looks to be easy enough if needed. |

First off I want to be clear about the kind of review this is intended to be. I am not a profession TV rater. I am not a videophile. I am a regular Joe and I am reviewing this for the regular Joe who is thinking about spending more than usual on a good quality television. During the next few months, I’m sure you can find a more professional review from the usual places… But for now, this is my impressions.
CORNER LIGHT: After reading many reviews on last years B8000 and this year’s C7000, I was worried about the light that emits from the corners. I’ve seen displays of last year’s B8000 and this year’s C7000 and have VERY easily seen what people are talking about. I took a big gamble in purchasing this TV before I read if people were having issues with this C8000. So let me say… After watching this TV for about 5 hours per day for 3 days… I have NOT seen the light coming from the edges as seen on other sets. And believe me I’ve been looking. I tried to find it watching the HD feed on Time Warner Cable, Blu-ray’s from the PS3, Blu-Ray’s from the Samsung 3D Blu-Ray player, watching at night, during the day… Nothing. I just do not see it! LOOKS: This TV looks just amazing. It has a VERY dark black screen. It looks as beautiful turned off as it does on. I was nervous about the brush metal look, but it actually looks very nice and compliments the new chromed four-legged stand. PICTURE: The picture clarity looks incredible. It’s as if I’m discovering HD for the first time. This set replaces a Samsung DLP set, so of course this is a vast improvement. Having said that, I have a newer plasma in the bedroom and this set looks much better than that. As with all new LED sets with 240 Hz, there is a bit of the Spanish Soap Opera/Home Video look to it. Some people really like this, some people don’t. I really like it. For those of you that don’t, you can always turn this feature down or off. To me this makes the picture look very clear and it makes it stand out from the other sets. 3D: Along with this TV I purchased the Samsung 3D Bluray player so I can get the 3D startup kit for free. Turning the 3D feature on and connecting the glasses was easy. The intro to Monsters v. Aliens was very cool. The opening scene in outer space looked incredible. The ball tied to a paddle part was funny and kinda made me jump a little. I haven’t spent too much time with 3D but I did notice that there were some scenes in the movie that had a double image while wearing the glasses. It doesn’t happen a lot, but it is noticeable. You can see this right away during the church scene at the beginning of the movie. It was a little annoying. I’m hoping that this is the kind of stuff that gets ironed out with a firmwear update, or as more content is released, they learn to fix it. |
